Spain woke to
flags at half staff on Tuesday as the nation began three days of
mourning for the victims of the deadly train accident in the
country’s south, while emergency crews continued to pull bodies
from the wreckage.
The crash in
southern Spain, after two high-speed trains collided, killed 41 and
injured at least 122, making this one of the country’s worst
railway accidents in over a decade, Andalusian emergency authorities
said Tuesday.
The crash
occurred after a train partially derailed, causing it to collide with
a second train traveling in the opposite direction on an adjacent
track, Spanish Transportation Minister Óscar Puente.
The cause of
the derailment is unknown, Puente said, calling the accident
“extremely strange.” The train that initially derailed was a
relatively new model, he added.
The trains were
carrying around 500 people, and many were trapped inside the
wreckage.
♰ The tragedy
occurred while Millions of Ethiopian Orthodox Christians gathered at
celebrations for Epiphany, locally known as Timkat, which
commemorates The Baptism of Jesus Christ by John the Baptist.

😔 "The
Jew became a plague to the Muslims... They crucified him at the city
gate."
As vizier of
Granada, the Jew Ismail ibn Nagrilla rose to power, wealth, and
prestige. When his son and successor attempted to secure his position
with a coup, a massacre ensued. Some consider it the first pogrom in
Europe.
On
December 30, 1066, a massacre took place in Granada in which
thousands of Jews fell victim, killed by their Muslim neighbors.
Historian Jane Gerber has
described how the Jewish experience in Muslim Spain included “some
of their [the Jews] most demoralized moments in the complex saga of
life in dispersion,” yet still came to be “garishly packaged as
‘The Golden Age.’” She argues that two currents of
apologetics—one emanating from nineteenth-century Jewish historians
seeking to assimilate Jews with equality into Western European
societies; the other, contemporary anti-Israel (and antisemitic) Arab
historians—have sustained this fictional conception. At present,
the modern “currency” afforded the mythical golden age image as
Arab “tolerance,” is juxtaposed to Jewish “ingratitude” in
the campaign against Israel.
Ibn Hazm (d. 1064), an
important Muslim jurist, and Abu Ishaq el-Biri, a prominent mid-11th
century Muslim poet, made the following observations about Jews,
while residing in mythically tolerant, ecumenical Muslim-controlled
Spain.
[Ibn Hazm] “[A] Jew [is]
of that most contemptible of religions, the most vile of faiths…They
[Jews] both the ancient and modern* [*defined below] are altogether
the worst liars…They are the filthiest and vilest of peoples, their
unbelief horrid, their ignorance abominable…”
[Abu Ishaq el-Biri] “The
vilest infidel ape [i.e., Jews; per Qur’an 5:60, 2:65, 7:166]…Do
not consider that killing them [Jews] is treachery.”
As analyzed by the
pre-eminent scholar of Islam’s Medieval anti-Jewish polemic, Moshe
Perlmann, their inflammatory rhetoric, particularly the Qur’anic
epithet “ape” for Jews, was common parlance, which ultimately
precipitated the mass slaughter and destruction of the Jewish
community in Granada, during a 1066 pogrom by rampaging Muslims. It
is estimated that up to four thousand Jews perished, making it the
largest anti-Jewish pogrom, till then, in European history.
A contemporary chronicle
written by sultan Abd Allah (who became Sultan of Granada in 1073)
confirms that a breach in the humiliating and discriminatory
Sharia-based system of dhimmitude for
non-Muslims, including Jews, also contributed to this outburst of
anti-Jewish jihad violence by the Muslims of Granada:
“Both the common people
and the nobles were disgusted by the cunning of the Jews, the
notorious changes they had brought in the order of things, and the
positions they occupied in violation of their pact [i.e., the dhimma,
per Qur’an 9:29, imposed by jihad]. Allah decreed their destruction
on Saturday 10 Safar 459 (December 30,1066)…The Jew [Joseph Ibn
Naghrela; communal leader] fled into the interior of the palace, but
the mob pursued him there, seized him, and killed him. They then put
every Jew in the city to the sword and took vast quantities of their
property.”
Eliyahu Ashtor’s
historical analysis “The Jews of Moslem Spain” contains this
graphic description of the carnage wrought, eerily reminiscent of the
barbaric 10/7/2023 jihad depredations by Hamas in southern Israel:
… “people were
dragged, frightened and shivering, to be beheaded by a sword blow.
The mob watched with enjoyment. Its triumphant roar mingled with the
cries of pleading women and the wailing of children. Here an old man
was stabbed, there a woman was hung from a beam; here a rapist
violated a woman while his companion ravished her daughter, and when
they were sated, they slaughtered both; the beheaded corpses of
infants were everywhere. The bodies of men lay with bellies split
asunder and weltered in their own blood; close by small girls lay
dying quivering in final convulsive jerks. Streams of blood flowed
into the narrow streets…”
Sixty years ago, Perlmann
lamented how the 900-year commemoration of what he termed “the
Grenada debacle of 1066,” a Muslim, mass slaughter of European
Jews, incited by canonical Islamic Jew-hating motifs, was ignored:
“…it seems that the
recent 900th anniversary [in 1966] of the first major pogrom on
European soil passed unnoticed.”
Writing in the immediate
aftermath of the March, 2004 Madrid jihadist train bombing which
killed 200 and wounded some 1400, historian Mordechai Nisan recalled
how apologetic Muslim scholar M. Amir Ali maintained the brutal 8th
century jihad conquest of Spain was actually a “liberation” by
the Muslim invaders. Nisan pondered,
“Reflecting on March 11
(2004) as Muslim terrorism killed 200 and wounded 1400 in Madrid, one
wonders whether one day this event will also not be commemorated as a
liberating moment.”
Ongoing ignorance of the
12/30/1066 annihilationist Muslim pogrom and its incitement by
canonical Islamic motifs of Jew-hatred epitomizes a longstanding
willful blindness to this Islamic continuum, from the invented
Medieval “Andalusian paradise” for Jews in Muslim Spain, to
10/7/2023, and the Bondi Beach jihadist massacre of Australian Jews
12/14/2025.
😔 Eva,
a Spanish woman, was kidnapped, raped, and tortured for seven days by
three Algerian Muslims in Alicante, Spain, burned with a blowtorch
and left with second and third-degree burns over her body.
Eva:
“[One
attacker] destroyed my eye, punched my ear, and cut my hair with a
knife [before setting me on fire.]”
Still
hospitalized and awaiting reconstructive surgery, Eva spoke publicly
through tears: “I want to tell my story so no one else goes through
this.”
Police are
hunting the suspects, one reportedly fled before officers arrived.
Eva María's
harrowing testimony after surviving seven days of torture and rape in
Alicante: "They tied me up with cable ties and burned me with a
blowtorch."
"They tied
me to a chair": the chilling testimony of a former student of
the autism center accused of abuse.
From her
hospital bed, in excruciating pain, Eva María, the woman kidnapped,
raped, and brutally tortured for seven days by three Algerian men in
a squat in the San Juan XXIII neighborhood of Alicante, connected
live with Nacho Abad on the program ‘En boca de todos’ and
bravely described the terrible ordeal she suffered: “They tied me
up with cable ties and started burning me with a blowtorch, and the
next day the rapes began.”
After being
rescued by the National Police and spending several days in the
hospital, Eva María, the young woman brutally tortured and raped for
a whole week, told us that her health is still fragile and that she
will need surgery in a few days because half of her body is burned:
“I’m still in bad shape and they’re going to transfer me to the
burn unit.”
Nacho Abad
wanted to know the details of what happened, and with great courage,
Eva María explained how she arrived at the drug den in the San Juan
XXIII neighborhood of Alicante, who took her there, and how she
experienced the terrible ordeal: “I got there through an
acquaintance who told me that some friends from San Juan wanted to
meet me… We went into the house, and when I realized what was
happening, I went to the bathroom, took a few puffs of a marijuana
joint, and felt dizzy. When I came out, she wasn't there, and one of
them punched me, shattering my eye… They took me upstairs to the
bedroom; there were some cardboard boxes on the floor. They tied me
up with cable ties and started burning me with a blowtorch, and the
next day the rapes began…”
Nacho Abad,
horrified by the cruelty of what happened, wanted to know how the
victim felt: “I wanted to die from the very first moment. I didn't
know why someone could do that without knowing me, just because. It
went on for a week… On the last day, I was convulsing on the floor,
and his intention was to put me in the car and leave me in an open
field… If it hadn't been for the girl who arrived… The same woman
who brought me brought her. I told her, 'Get out of here, look what
they've done to me.' When the police arrived, they found me
convulsing, almost dead…”
Mariana, Eva
María's mother: “I can't even imagine it, they are unforgivable.”
José María
Fernández, a reporter for ‘En boca de todos,’ and Mariana, Eva
María's mother, showed tremendous courage to make the live
connection in the neighborhood where she grew up and where her
daughter was brutally raped and tortured.
Mariana tried
to catch her breath because she had broken down while listening to
her daughter's terrible testimony from the… "They are
unforgivable," she said. Deeply affected, she explained the pain
she feels and denounced a young woman named Penelope, who was the one
who took Eva Maria to the drug den where the three Algerians tortured
her mercilessly. According to reports, the young woman is in hiding
and no one has been able to locate her. Apparently, this Penelope was
also the one who took the other young woman to the apartment and
alerted the police that Eva Maria was being held captive.
Mariana
explained that she was born and raised in the San Juan XXIII
neighborhood, a neighborhood where her daughter nearly died and where
currently 90% of the apartments are occupied by Algerian and Moroccan
citizens.
The harrowing
nature of Eva Maria's testimony deeply moved Nacho Abad and everyone
present, and the presenter did not hide his sorrow: "I don't
recall such a harrowing testimony, I don't recall such a courageous
testimony as this woman's from a hospital bed... We should reflect on
what kind of society we are, on empathy." "What we feel and
what kind of insecurity we're experiencing... It leaves me feeling
numb."
This is the
torturer and rapist from Alicante: he sells drugs and has his own
army of Algerians.
A neighbor from
the building where Eva María was kidnapped and brutally raped for 7
days, has broken the neighborhood silence to tell us about the
Algerian man who has the San Juan XXIII neighborhood in Alicante
terrified: an aggressive man, who sells drugs and has his own army.
