An extensive
organ-harvesting ring has been uncovered in Nigeria after weeks of
covert surveillance, local officials have said.
In a statement
shared on X, the Imo State Police Command said their investigation
was launched after reports of a worrying spate of kidnappings near a
hotel and mortuary in Ngor Okpala.
According to
police, intelligence-led investigations went on to identify a man
called High Chief Stanley Oparaugo, also known as "Morocco,"
as the suspected leader of the criminal network and who is now on the
run and wanted, per reports.

in case that has rocked France.
An Algerian woman raped, tortured and murdered a 12-year-old girl
after a dispute with the child's mother, a court heard today in a
case that has shocked France.
Dahbia Benkired, 27, is accused of luring Lola Daviet to her death,
partially severing her head before suffocating her, after the girl's
mother refused to give her a pass key to an apartment block.
Investigators say Benkired slashed the schoolgirl with scissors and a
box cutter then bound her up in duct tape, including around her face,
leading to her death by asphyxia.
Depraved Benkired admitted in court today that she forced the young
girl to undress and wash herself, then perform a sex act on her 'for
my pleasure'.
The presiding judge of the Assize Court told the jurors that Lola's
'head was partially severed' at the neck.
In October 2022, Lola's body was found in a trunk in the lobby of the
building where her father and mother worked as caretakers.
Building residents saw Benkired in the lobby of the apartment block
in the 19th district, carrying suitcases and a heavy trunk covered in
a blanket, the investigation showed.
An hour and a half earlier, security footage showed Benkired
approaching the girl as she returned from school, then leading her
into the flat her sister occupied in the building.
She placed the body in a trunk and exited the building, pausing
outside a cafe, where she told a client who suspected something
strange in her luggage that she was 'selling a kidney', investigators
said.
She then convinced a friend to drive her and the bags to his home,
before taking a taxi with the trunk back to the building where her
sister lived.
She fled when she saw police deployed in the area, but was arrested
the next day.
A police investigation revealed that a pair of scissors, an oyster
knife and an IKEA knife were found in Benkired's flat with traces of
blood.
The Algerian woman had a tough upbringing with aunts before she
settled in France in 2013, the investigation showed.
She told the court that she had been abused by family and neighbours
as she grew up, claiming her aunts 'forced her to watch pornographic
films... and groped her in the forest.'
It was reported at the time of the killing that she was was the
subject of an expulsion order, prompting stinging criticism from the
right and one of the most bitter political debates in recent memory.

Eden
Adugna, Feven Adugna and Bemnet Deresse were shot and killed in an
apartment complex on Aug. 31. Friends and family remembered them with
a vigil near where they died Tuesday.
Dressed
all in black, many wearing veils and shawls, dozens of people mourned
three Ethiopian immigrants who were shot and killed more than a week
ago in Mount Washington.
Officials
say 26-year-old Samuel Tyler Ericksen shot 22-year-old Eden Adugna,
20-year-old Feven Adugna and 27-year-old Bemnet Deresse on Sunday,
Aug 31.
Negash
Adugna stood in the center of the crowd and reminisced about the day
he brought Eden and Feven to the U.S. from Ethiopia when they were 9
and 7 years old.
"I
saw excitement. I saw hope," he said.
Negash
said he reviewed a picture of the girls on the plane from Ethiopia
while selecting photos for their funeral just before attending their
vigil.
"Those
two lights, the dreams, are all in a casket next door, next room.
That I can't unsee," he said. "I ask myself why?"
Negash
remembered Eden as a dedicated young woman with the drive and talent
to enter the medical field, and he shared memories of Fevan's love of
Liverpool Football.
Bemnet's
family said he was a quiet young man who loved to study and help his
family.
All
three funerals will be held at the Mahdereselan Kidanemihret
Ethiopian Orthodox Church on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 1631 Marlowe Ave.
Bemnet's
burial is set for 1:30 p.m. at Spring Grove Cemetery at 4521 Spring
Grove Ave. in Cincinnati, while Eden and Feven will be buried in The
Lexington Cemetery at 833 West St. in Lexington at 2:00 p.m.

Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people, and advocates of religious
freedom worldwide have been shaken by the brutal killing of Ashur
Sarnaya, a 45-year-old Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian man with special
needs, who was attacked during a live broadcast on social media in
front of his home in Lyon on Wednesday evening, 10 September 2025.
According to media reports,
Sarnaya was stabbed in the neck and suffered a cardiopulmonary
arrest. The three perpetrators, dressed in dark clothing with hoods,
fled the scene immediately and have not yet been identified.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the
circumstances of the crime.
Sarnaya, originally from Ankawa
— a predominantly Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian district of Arba’ilo
(Erbil) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) — was a familiar
presence on the social media platform TikTok, where he often
addressed religious issues and voiced sharp criticism of Islamist
groups. His activism is widely believed to be the most likely motive
behind the attack that ended his life.
In several live broadcasts,
Sarnaya had revealed that he had received death threats, both through
online comments and anonymous phone calls.
Sarnaya and his family had fled
to France seeking safety and a new life after the Islamic State
(ISIS) terrorist group seized large swathes of the country. Yet,
security remained elusive. His radical persecutors appear to have
tracked him down even in France, ultimately targeting and killing him
in public.
This crime has sparked strong
reactions across French society. Mohamed Chihi, Lyon’s Deputy Mayor
for Security Affairs, condemned what he called a “heinous crime”
and voiced hope that investigators would “uncover the circumstances
of the case as soon as possible.”
According to a police source in
Lyon, investigators are not leaning toward any single hypothesis,
noting that no conclusive evidence yet points to whether the motive
was criminal, political, religious, or drug-related. Preliminary
findings indicate that a man lay in wait for Sarnaya — who has no
police record — and stabbed him in the neck with a bladed weapon,
the exact type of which has not yet been identified. An informed
source added that “the perpetrator fled on foot.”
The case of Sarnaya has drawn
comparisons to that of Salwan Momika, a Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian
activist who was killed in Sweden after repeatedly staging public
burnings of the Quran and subsequently becoming a target of radical
Islamists.
