Christians in Europe has published its annual report, indicating a
surge in violence against Christians in 2024. It was only a matter of
time before Christian persecution rose in the West, given the leftist

decline, thanks to leftists who have also supported open-door

“New report notes ‘significant
rise’ in ‘personal attacks’ on Christians in Europe,” from
Catholic
Review, November 18, 2025:
In its 2025 report,
the Vienna-based Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination
against Christians, or OIDAC, noted “a significant rise in personal
attacks” against Christians in 2024.
The OIDAC
Europe Report 2025, which was published Nov. 17, identified 2,211
anti-Christian hate crimes in 2024, a slight decrease from the 2,444
incidents recorded last year.
However,
personal attacks against Christians increased to 274, up from 232 in
last year’s report. It also noted a “sharp spike in arson attacks
targeting churches and other Christian sites.”
According to
OIDAC Europe’s findings, most anti-Christian hate crimes were
recorded in France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain and Austria.

harrowing testimony after surviving seven days of torture and rape in

From her
hospital bed, in excruciating pain, Eva María, the woman kidnapped,
raped, and brutally tortured for seven days by three Algerian men in
a squat in the San Juan XXIII neighborhood of Alicante, connected
live with Nacho Abad on the program ‘En boca de todos’ and
bravely described the terrible ordeal she suffered: “They tied me
up with cable ties and started burning me with a blowtorch, and the
next day the rapes began.”
After being
rescued by the National Police and spending several days in the
hospital, Eva María, the young woman brutally tortured and raped for
a whole week, told us that her health is still fragile and that she
will need surgery in a few days because half of her body is burned:
“I’m still in bad shape and they’re going to transfer me to the
burn unit.”
Nacho Abad
wanted to know the details of what happened, and with great courage,
Eva María explained how she arrived at the drug den in the San Juan
XXIII neighborhood of Alicante, who took her there, and how she
experienced the terrible ordeal: “I got there through an
acquaintance who told me that some friends from San Juan wanted to
meet me… We went into the house, and when I realized what was
happening, I went to the bathroom, took a few puffs of a marijuana
joint, and felt dizzy. When I came out, she wasn't there, and one of
them punched me, shattering my eye… They took me upstairs to the
bedroom; there were some cardboard boxes on the floor. They tied me
up with cable ties and started burning me with a blowtorch, and the
next day the rapes began…”
Nacho Abad,
horrified by the cruelty of what happened, wanted to know how the
victim felt: “I wanted to die from the very first moment. I didn't
know why someone could do that without knowing me, just because. It
went on for a week… On the last day, I was convulsing on the floor,
and his intention was to put me in the car and leave me in an open
field… If it hadn't been for the girl who arrived… The same woman
who brought me brought her. I told her, 'Get out of here, look what
they've done to me.' When the police arrived, they found me
convulsing, almost dead…”
Mariana, Eva
María's mother: “I can't even imagine it, they are unforgivable.”
José María
Fernández, a reporter for ‘En boca de todos,’ and Mariana, Eva
María's mother, showed tremendous courage to make the live
connection in the neighborhood where she grew up and where her
daughter was brutally raped and tortured.
Mariana tried
to catch her breath because she had broken down while listening to
her daughter's terrible testimony from the… "They are
unforgivable," she said. Deeply affected, she explained the pain
she feels and denounced a young woman named Penelope, who was the one
who took Eva Maria to the drug den where the three Algerians tortured
her mercilessly. According to reports, the young woman is in hiding
and no one has been able to locate her. Apparently, this Penelope was
also the one who took the other young woman to the apartment and
alerted the police that Eva Maria was being held captive.
Mariana
explained that she was born and raised in the San Juan XXIII
neighborhood, a neighborhood where her daughter nearly died and where
currently 90% of the apartments are occupied by Algerian and Moroccan
citizens.
The harrowing
nature of Eva Maria's testimony deeply moved Nacho Abad and everyone
present, and the presenter did not hide his sorrow: "I don't
recall such a harrowing testimony, I don't recall such a courageous
testimony as this woman's from a hospital bed... We should reflect on
what kind of society we are, on empathy." "What we feel and
what kind of insecurity we're experiencing... It leaves me feeling
numb."

flock to a new cathedral that is the world´s largest Orthodox church
after 15 Years of Construction.
Thousands of
pilgrims turned out Sunday in Romania´s capital for the consecration
of religious paintings inside the world´s largest Christian Orthodox
church that was being opened after 15 years of construction.
Worshippers and
officials arrived in droves at the People´s Salvation Cathedral,
known as the National Cathedral, which at its highest point stands
more than 125 meters (410 feet) and has an inner capacity for 5,000
worshippers in the deeply Orthodox country. The cathedral's opulent
interior is covered with frescoes and mosaics depicting saints and
icons.
Proposals for a
national cathedral in the country of about 19 million people had been
put forward for more than a century, but its fruition was hampered by
two world wars and the decades of communist rule, which sought to
suppress religion. The Romanian Orthodox Church has called the
cathedral "a symbol of national identity."
Romania is one
of the most pious countries in the European Union, with around 85% of
the population identifying as religious.
Situated behind
the hulking Palace of the People built by the late communist leader
Nicolae Ceausescu, construction for the cathedral finally began in
2010, and its altar was consecrated in 2018. It has so far cost a
reported 270 million euros ($313 million), with a majority drawn from
public funds, and some works are yet to be completed.
Traffic was
restricted for Sunday´s service, which was attended by President
Nicusor Dan and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. Many worshippers watched
via TV screens set up outside the cathedral.
The cathedral´s
mosaics and iconography cover an area of 17,800 square meters
(191,000 square feet), according the cathedral´s website.
Daniel
Codrescu, who has spent seven years working on the frescoes and
mosaics, told The Associated Press that much of the iconography has
been inspired by medieval Romanian paintings and others from the
Byzantine world.
"It was a
complex collaboration with the church, with art historians, with
artists, also our friends of contemporary art," he said. "I
hope (the church) is going to have a very important impact on society
because ... it´s a public space."
With one of the
largest budget deficits in the EU, not everyone in Romania was happy
about the cost of the project. Critics bemoan that the massive church
has drawn on public funds, which could have been spent on schools or
hospitals.
Claudiu Tufis,
an associate professor of political science at the University of
Bucharest, said the project was a "waste of public money"
but said it could offer a "boost to national pride and identity"
for some Romanians.
"The fact
that they have forced, year after year, politicians to pay for it, in
some cases taking money from communities that really needed that
money, indicates it was a show of force, not one of humility and love
of God," he said. "Economically, it might be OK in the long
term as it will be a tourist attraction."
Rares
Ghiorghies, 37, supports the church but said the money would be
better spent on health and education as "a matter of good
governance."
"The big
problem in society is that most of those who criticize do not follow
the activities of the church," he said.
