In Ergoldingen, a bus driver was behind schedule on his way to Landshut city centre – not because of traffic, however, but due to an unusual stop: the man parked the fully occupied bus at a bus stop in Ergoldingen to pray.
This has been reported by, amongst others, the regional news portal Idowa and Sat 1 Bayern. According to these reports, the driver suddenly stopped the bus, went to the back, rolled out his prayer mat and prayed.
“The passengers were surprised, but also unsettled,” reports Sat 1 Bayern. The journey was delayed by several minutes as a result.
According to the TV channel, the municipal transport authority emphasises the right to freedom of religion. Of course, bus services must not be interrupted. It remains to be seen whether the driver will face any consequences.
