😇 Nicodemus the Righteous, “A secret disciple of Christ”

Nicodemus was a Pharisee and ruler of the Jews during the Apostasy era, who learned Lord Jesus Christ sermons. This man was a teacher himself but knew that our Lord’s Holy words were the only powerful and true. He use to go Him in the night hour to hear His words seeking to avoid others spotting speaking to Him. He also craved to escape the world of darkness since he saw the light of salvation and life in Christ. Our kind and caring Lord Jesus did not reject but received him with Heavenly instructions. He talked to Nicodemus in a way that encouraged Him to ask questions.

Nicodemus then asked Lord Jesus, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher who come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Lord Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”(John 3:2-5)

Lord Jesus explained to Nicodemus the precondition of salvation in the kingdom of God which exists only if he believed that he was God’s own Son, that he was equal with God the Father, and that the power to become children of God by rebirth is available only through the mystery of Baptism, which is one of the seven sacraments of the Church. (John 3: 2-13, 5: 17-18)

Nicodemus desired to become a child of God and was baptized. He had love for God and desired the grace of Baptism. Lord Jesus Christ explained to him about the regeneration of man through Holy water. But at that time, Nicodemus did not understand the mystery of Baptism to mean how a man could be born again. When the Lord reprimanded him for his ignorance and accepted it with humility, He believed in the Words of Jesus who descended from above. (John 3:1-21)

Nicodemus never again came to Lord Jesus in the dark due to his shamelessness but loved Him. He came back to Lord Jesus Christ from time to time, defended Him to the Pharisees and even became His follower proudly! He was also the one who brought spices to anoint His body during His crucifixion. (John 7:50-52, 19:39)

The seventh Sunday in the Great Fast is named after Saint Nicodimus directing to the new birth given by water and the Holy Spirit. After being cast out the synagogue for his faith in Lord Jesus Christ, Saint Nicodemus went to live with Saint Gamalile at his country house until his death.

‹ በመልካም መሬት የተዘራውም ይህ ቃሉን ሰምቶ የሚያስተውል ነው› ማቴ ፲፫፡፳፫

አንዳንዶቻችን ጸሎት እያደረግን እንኳን አንደበታችን የእግዚአብሄርን ቃል ይነዳል ልባችን ሌላ ቦታ ይንጎዳጎዳል በማህበር ጸሎትም አብረን እየጸልይን በመሃል ሳይን አውት አርገን ልክ ሲፈጸም አለቀ እንዴ ብለን ሳይን ኢን የምናደርግ አንጠፋም።

፬/ ሌሊት ጨለማ ነው ብርሃን የለም ይህም የኃጢአት ምሳሌ ነው ኒቆዲሞስ በሌሊት መምጣቱ በኃጢአት እንዳለ ንስሃ እንደሚፈግ ያስረዳናል ዛሬስ ስንቶቻችን ነን ቅዱስ ቃሉን ስንሰማ በተአምኖ ኃጢአት በንስሃ ውስጥ ሆነን የምንሰማ ያለንስሃ የምንሰማው ቃል በህይወታችን ፍሬ የማፍራት እድሉ ጠባብ ነው ምክንያቱም በንስሃ ከልባችን ያልጸዱት ክፉ ምኞቶች እንደ እሾህ ሆነው ያንቁታልና

‹ሌላውም በእሾህ መካከል ወደቀ እሾህም ወጣና አነቀው› ማቴ ፲፫፤፰ ተብሎ የተጻፈው ለዚህ ነው።

፭/ ሌሊት የቆየው ኪዳን ወይም የብሉይ ኪዳን ምሳሌ ነው ኒቆዲሞስም እኔ ምሁረ ኦሪት እንጂ ምሁረ ወንጌል አይደለሁም ወንጌልን ካንተ እማር ዘንድ ያስፈልገኛል ሲል በሌሊት ይመጣ ነበር ብሉያት ከሓዲሳት ጋር ተዋህደው ሲተረጎሙ ሰሙና ወርቁ ተጣምሮ የሕይወት ትምህርት ያስገኛል አንዳንዶች ዛሬ ብሉያት ጭራሽ አያስፈልጉም ሲሉ ይደመጣሉ ነገር ግን እንደ ኒቆዲሞስ ሁለቱን ኪዳናት አዋህዶ መጓዝ ትክክለኛው መንገድ ነው ለዚህም ነው ጌታ ሲያስተምር‹እውነት እላችኋለው ሰማይና ምድር እስኪያልፍ ድረስ ከህግ አንዲት የውጣ ወይም አንዲት ነጥብ አታልፍም› ማቴ ፭፤፲፰ በማለት አበክሮ የተናገረው ኒቆዲሞስ ምንም እንኳን የቀኑ ክፍለ ጊዜ ባይመቸውም በሌሊቱ ሰአት ለመማር ችⶀል እኛም ከሱ ተምረን ከልብ ካለቀሱ እንባ አይጠፋምና ምንም ስራ ቢበዛብን ለቅዱስ ቃሉ ጊዜ አይጠፋምና ህይወት ለሚገኝበት ትምህርት ጊዜ ልንሰት ይገባል።

Ethiopians said Friday they slept in their cars in hours-long queues for petrol as shortages caused by the Middle East war began to take their toll.

The effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran, through which a fifth of the world's oil and gas normally passes, has caused shortages in many countries.

Ethiopia, a nation in the Horn of Africa with around 130 million people, is particularly vulnerable as it imports all its petrol, primarily from the Gulf.

Drivers waiting in an enormous queue at a petrol station in the Summit 72 area of the capital Addis Ababa said the wait was "more than a day".

"I've been in the queue since last night at around 7:00 pm. I spent the night in my car without food," said taxi driver Awoke Derese on Friday morning.

"I have already lost two days of business. I pay 2,000 birr ($13) per day in rental fees for the car. My family is at risk because I can't support them," he told AFP.

Shortages started to be noticed earlier this week. At another petrol station in the Summit 72 area, a worker said they had been closed for four days and did not know when fresh deliveries would arrive.

Bakery worker Natenahel Gedamu said his business needed fuel for generators and baking machines.

"We ran out yesterday and have not produced anything since," he said.

"I'm worried the station may run out of fuel before I reach it. I've already tried several stations -- this feels like my last chance," added Natenahel, who had been queueing since 4:00 pm the previous day.

Land-locked Ethiopia relies on the port of Djibouti for its imports. It has only 13 strategic reserve depots, according to the state-owned Ethiopian Petroleum Supply Enterprise, which did not respond to requests for comment from AFP.

More than 40 percent of Ethiopians live below the poverty line, according to the World Bank, and fear the inflation -- already running around 10 percent -- from rising fuel prices.

Addis Ababa has been undergoing a major reconstruction drive in recent years, but some building projects were on hold this week, AFP journalists saw.

This included the "corridor" project to widen and renovate its streets and work in the Bole district near the airport.

፪ እግዚአብሔር ዓለቴ፥ አምባዬ፥ መድኃኒቴ፥ አምላኬ፥ በእርሱም የምተማመንበት ረዳቴ፥ መታመኛዬና የደኅንነቴ ቀንድ መጠጊያዬም ነው።

፫ ምስጋና የሚገባውን እግዚአብሔርን እጠራለሁ፥ ከጠላቶቼም እድናለሁ።

፬ የሞት ጣር ያዘኝ፥ የዓመፅ ፈሳሽም አስፈራኝ፤

፭ የሲኦል ጣር ከበበኝ፤ የሞት ወጥመድም ደረሰብኝ።

፮ በጨነቀኝ ጊዜ እግዚአብሔርን ጠራሁት፥ ወደ አምላኬም ጮኽሁ፤ ከመቅደሱም ቃሌን ሰማኝ፥ ጩኸቴም በፊቱ ወደ ጆሮው ገባ።

፯ ምድርም ተንቀጠቀጠች ተናወጠችም፥ የተራሮችም መሠረቶች ተነቃነቁ፥ እግዚአብሔርም ተቈጥቶአልና ተንቀጠቀጡ።

፰ ከቍጣው ጢስ ወጣ፥ ከፊቱም የሚበላ እሳት ነደደ፤ ፍምም ከእርሱ በራ።

፱ ሰማዮችን ዝቅ ዝቅ አደረገ ወረደም፥ ጨለማ ከእግሩ በታች ነበረ።

፲ በኪሩቤልም ላይ ተቀምጦ በረረ፥ በነፋስም ክንፍ በረረ።

፲፩ መሰወሪያውን ጨለማ አደረገ፤ በዙሪያውም ድንኳኑ፤ በደመናት ውስጥ የጨለማ ውኃ ነበረ።

፲፪ በፊቱ ካለው ብርሃን የተነሣ ደመናትና በረዶ የእሳት ፍምም አለፉ።

፲፫ እግዚአብሔርም ከሰማያት አንጐደጐደ፥ ልዑልም ቃሉን ሰጠ።

፲፬ ፍላጻውን ላከ በተናቸውም፤ መብረቆችን አበዛ አወካቸውም።

፲፭ አቤቱ፥ ከዘለፋህ ከመዓትህም መንፈስ እስትንፋስ የተነሣ፥ የውኆች ምንጮች ታዩ፥ የዓለም መሠረቶችም ተገለጡ።

፲፮ ከላይ ሰደደ ወሰደኝም፥ ከብዙ ውኆችም አወጣኝ።

፲፯ ከብርቱዎች ጠላቶቼ ከሚጠሉኝም አዳነኝ፥ በርትተውብኝ ነበርና።

፲፰ በመከራዬ ቀን ደረሱብኝ፤ እግዚአብሔር ግን ደገፋዬ ሆነ።

፲፱ ወደ ሰፊ ስፍራም አወጣኝ፤ ወድዶኛልና አዳነኝ።
