ክርስቲያናዊ ሕይወታችንን በተቻለው አጋጣሚ ዓይን አውጥተው ወደ ባሕላዊነት ለመለወጥ የዲያብሎስ ወኪሎች ተግተው እየሠሩ ነው። ነጠብጣቦቹን እናገናኝ፦ የአዲስ ዓመት፣(ደርግ ይህን በዓል ለማጥፋት ሞክሮ ነበር) መስቀል (ዩኔስኮ ቅርስ እንዲሆን የመደረጉ ተንኮል) ፣ ከጥቂት ቀናት በኋላ ጣዖታዊው የኢሬቻ በዓል የመስቀል በዓልን እንዲተካ ለማድረግ እየተሞከረ እንደሆነ፣ የቆሼ አደጋ፣ በረመዳን ወቅት ኢትዮጵያውያን በሊቢያ እና በለንደን መሰዋታቸው፤ እንዲሁም ከሳዑዲ ጋኔን ተሞልተው ኢትዮጵያ እንዲገቡ መደረጋቸው ወዘተ.

✞ Makeshift scaffolding set up at a church in Ethiopia collapsed Wednesday, killing at least 36 people and injuring more than 200, state media said. The incident occurred at around 7:45 a.m. local time in the town of Arerti, about 40 miles east of capital Addis Ababa, when a group was visiting for an annual Virgin Mary festival.

District police chief Ahmed Gebeyehu said: "The number of dead has reached 36 and could increase more", adding "more than 200 people have suffered injuries" and were receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Some people remained under the rubble.

He said some of the more seriously hurt were taken to hospitals in the capital.

Images showed a mess of collapsed wooden poles, with crowds gathering amid the dense debris.

Other pictures appeared to show the outside of the church where scaffolding had been precariously constructed.

A government statement shared by EBC expressed condolences, and added that "safety must be given priority."

Health and safety regulations are virtually non-existent in Ethiopia, Africa's second most populous nation, and construction accidents are common.

The sprawling country is a mosaic of 80 ethnic groups and has one of the world's oldest Christian communities.

Its predecessor, the Axumite Empire, declared Christianity the state religion in the fourth century.

🔥 On Saturday 27 September, as if out of nowhere, groups of young people took to the streets in many major Moroccan cities, including Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier, Fes, Meknes, El Jadida, and Tetouan. They came out in response to a call broadcast on social media by young people who named themselves the GenZ212 movement.

What rapid and unexpected developments! What an era we are living in! Did anyone anticipate that this youth movement would emerge?

What is GenZ212?

‘Gen Z’ refers to the generation born in the late 1990s and early 2000s, while ‘212’ is Morocco’s international dialing code, indicating that it is a movement of Moroccan youth.

It is a movement of young people who describe themselves as follows:

“We are the youth of Morocco, a new generation. We declare clearly that we do not belong to any political party, union, or organisation. Our movement is independent and peaceful, aiming to express our social and human demands.”

They clarified that their main demands are:

• Free and quality public education that ensures equal opportunities and addresses the problems of overcrowding and school dropouts.

• Decent public healthcare, with proper infrastructure, modern equipment, and sufficient doctors in all regions.

• Fair employment opportunities that allow the youth to build their future with dignity.

• A fight against corruption, cronyism, and nepotism, ensuring transparency and accountability in hiring and public administration.

• Real social justice that supports the poor and marginalised regions.

They emphasised that their actions are “peaceful, based on awareness and discipline, and respectful of the law.” They noted that they had established a “code of conduct for our demonstrations: no violence, no vandalism, no violation of public or private property – only the voice of free youth.”

This movement occurs in the context of protests by working youth in many countries worldwide, such as those witnessed in Nepal, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, France, and others. Young people have expressed their rejection of the tragic conditions they endure due to dictatorship, which robs them of their present and future.

The Moroccan GenZ212 movement is part of this global context. It is similar to its counterparts not only in its name and its methods of mobilisation, but also in its demands and the form of the protests.

እስልምና የክርስቶስ ተቃዋሚ፣ ታሪክ-አዛቢ፣ መሰሪ/ተንኮለኛ፣ አታላይ እና ፖለቲካዊ ርዕዮተ ዓለም ነው።

እስልምና፣ መስጂዶቹ፣ ትምህርት ቤቶቹ፣ ድርጅቶቹ፣ ወዘተ... አሸባሪና ወንጀለኛ ተቋማት ሙስሊም ያልሆኑትን ሁሉ በጥላቻ እና በጠላትነት በመፈረጅ አምባገነኑ እስልምና ህብረተሰቡን በድፍረት እስላማዊ ለማድረግ የሚሠራ ርዕዮተ ዓለም ነው (ቁርኣን 5፡14፣ 9፡5፣ 29፣ 111፣ ወዘተ)። ከእስልምና ቁርኣን እንዳስተማረው፣ እስልምና በአመፅ፣ በሽብርተኝነት፣ በጥላቻ፣ በህገ-ወጥ የሰዎች ዝውውር እና በሴቶች፣ ህጻናት እና ሙስሊም ባልሆኑ ሰዎች ላይ በሚያደርሰው መድልዎ፣ በማነሳሳት፣ በገንዘብ እና በማበረታታት የሚሠራ ዲያብሎሳዊ አምልኮ በመሆኑ መታገድ አለበት።

አላህ በክርስቲያኖች ላይ ጥላቻን ያነሳሳል ቁርኣን 5፡14፡- “ከነዚያም እኛ ናሳራዎች ነን ከሚሉት ከፊሉ ቃል ኪዳናቸውን ያዝን። በርሱም የተገሰጹበትን ከፊሉን ረሱ። በመካከላቸውም እስከ ትንሣኤ ቀን ድረስ ጠላትነትንና ጥላቻን አነሳንባቸው። አላህም ይሠሩት የነበሩትን ሁሉ ይነግራቸዋል።”

ሙስሊም አማኞች ከአላህ የበለጠ አሸባሪ ናቸው። አላህ በቁርኣን 59፡13 ላይ “እናንተ [ሙስሊሞች] በደረታቸው ውስጥ ከአላህ የበለጠ ሽብር ናችሁ። ይህ እነርሱ[ አይሁዶችና ክርስቲያኖች] የማያውቁ ሰዎች በመሆናቸው ነው።

እስልምና በሄደበት ሁሉ ስነ ምግባሩም ይሄዳል። የእስልምና ጽንፈኞች አረመኔያዊ ድርጊት እና የተለያዩ ድርጊቶች በአለም ላይ በየቀኑ እየታዩ በእስልምና ባንዲራ ሥር ሲፈፀሙ እና በጣም የተለመደ ነገር ከመሆናቸው የተነሳ አለም በችግር ውስጥ ያለ የሰው ልጅ የተለመደ አካል አድርጎ ይመለከታቸዋል። እናም፣ ከጊዜ ወደ ጊዜ፣ ዓለም እነዚህ እስላማዊ ሮቦቶች የሚፈጽሙትን እኩይ ተግባር በማለፍ እና ለቅጽበት በመረዳት ድንጋጤ ውስጥ ትገባለች እናም በፍጥነት ይህንን የሰው ልጅ መከራ በቁም ነገር ለመፍታት ምንም አላደረጉም።

የሰው ልጅ በጣም አሳሳቢ ችግር እየገጠመው ነው። በአንድ በኩል፣ ዓላማቸው የተለያዩ ሰዎች የሚኖሩበትን ዓለም ወደ አንድ ሰብዓዊ ኅብረተሰብ ለመፍጠር የሚታገሡ ሰዎች ምኞታቸው ሰላምና የእያንዳንዱ ቤተሰብ አባል ተፈጥሯዊ ክብርና ደኅንነት በማክበር የሚመራ ነው። በሌላ በኩል የእስልምና ጽንፈኞች የነሱን የድንጋይ ዘመን ቀኖናቸውን በሌላ ሰው ላይ ለመጫን የሚጥሩ የዲያብሎስ አርበኞች ናቸው።

የእስልምና የህይወት መመሪያ፣ ቁርአን፣ የሙስሊሞችን አስተሳሰብ እና ባህሪ የሚቀርፅ የማግለል፣ የጥላቻ እና የጥቃት ሰነድ ነው። በጣም የሚያሳዝነው ግን በእስልምና አስተምህሮ በጣም የተጎዱት ሙስሊሞች ራሳቸው ናቸው። የጥላቻ እና የአመፅን የቫይረስ የስነ-ልቦና በሽታ ወርሰዋልና፤ በእሱ ይኖራሉና፣ እና ለልጆቻቸው እያስተላለፉ እንዲሁም ሌሎችን ለመቀበል ይነሳሳሉና።

ቁርኣን 9፡5 "እስልምናን ያልተቀበሉትን ከሓዲዎችን ባገኛችኋቸው ስፍራ ግደላቸው፤ በሁሉም የጦርነት ተንኮሎች ተደብቃችሁ ያዙዋቸውም፣ አስቸግሯቸውም።" 

እስላማዊ አስተምህሮ፣ ልክ እንዳለፈበት የአእምሮ ወረርሽኝ ላለፉት ሽሂ አራት መቶ/ 1,400 ዓመታት ውስጥ ወደ ብዙ ዓይነቶች እና የክብደት ደረጃዎች ተቀይሯል። በሙስሊም ቤተሰብ ውስጥ የተወለዱ ሁሉ እንዲሁም እስልምናን የተቀበሉ ሰዎች የተለየ እስላማዊ ወረርሽኝ ይያዛሉ። ልክ እንደ ሁሉም ያለፈባቸው ቫይረሶች፣ እስላማዊው ቫይረስም በሰውዬው ውስጥ በጥልቅ ዘልቆ ይንሰራፋል፣ ከጊዜ ወደ ጊዜ አስከፊ መዘዝም ያስከትላል።

🐘 In a recent study, Dr. Harel Shochat from the University of Haifa and his colleagues analyzed the biological and geographical origins of ivory artifacts from the southern Levant dating to the Late Bronze Age to the Iron Age II (ca. 1600–600 BC). The work is published in the Journal of Archaeological Science.

Ivory was a luxury commodity used in a variety of ways. During the Late Bronze Age, ivory artifacts were typically composed of furniture components, cosmetic boxes, and other decorative pieces, as well as votive items. At the time, various Canaanite city-states had emerged, but fallen under Egyptian New Kingdom rule.

By the Iron Age I (ca. 1200–950 BC), the Canaanite city-states had collapsed, and Egypt had withdrawn from the region. Ivory artifacts disappeared from the northern Levant but remained in the southern, particularly along the Phoenician and Philistine coastal areas. Additionally, ivory's function changed to one of utilitarianism, being found in spindles, whorls, and combs.

"It [ivory] percolated further down... in the social strata. During the Iron One, you would say, okay, these are utilitarian objects, because ... first of all, there is no elite who consumes it during the Iron One … it was used by the people who actually brought it, like the merchants. So, we see it mainly along the coast... where people have access … they're not found further inland. Probably, there were no people to procure it further inland," explains Dr. Shochat.

"It could have been … that it was already a valuable material, then perhaps the merchants themselves wanted to present or express their wealth or their success in business. So, they would take it [ivory] and make it into something utilitarian. If someone were to take out their weaving kit and show they had something from ivory, it shows their success, maybe economic success, and maybe their higher social status."

Finally, by the Iron Age II (ca. 950–600 BC), the southern Levant had consolidated into territorial states, namely the Kingdom of Israel and Judah. However, by the 9th century BCE, these had become Assyrian and Babylonian vassals. While ivory artifacts were once again shifted, their trade was not disrupted. Now they were used primarily as decorative items for furniture and fittings.

Yet despite their varied and significant history in the southern Levant, prior research on southern Levantine ivories has typically focused on their stylistic and art-historical evolution. While attempts to determine what animal these ivories were sourced from, and where these ivories came from, have been minimal and typically have relied on iconographic and epigraphic evidence.

In an effort to biologically and geographically determine the origin of these ivories, 624 pieces of ivory were examined using microscopy, archaeology by mass spectrometry, and stable carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen isotopes.

The results indicate that the majority of ivory was sourced from elephants (85%), with almost 15% coming from hippopotami, while only three pieces of ivory were made from boar tusks.

Hippopotami ivory was both of local and non-local origin, with the non-local sources coming from the Nile River.

Meanwhile, all the elephant tusks came from African elephants, despite the potential of Asian elephant ivory to have reached the southern Levant.

The analysis revealed that the elephant ivory was sourced in the sixth cataract of the Nile, beyond the confluence of the Blue and White Niles, and south of modern Khartoum in Sudan. This indicates that the Nubians were likely the procurers of this ivory.

However, it has long been believed that Egypt's role in the ivory trade would have been particularly extensive, especially given the scholarly emphasis on Egyptian influence on the southern Levant and the ivory craft in general during this period.

Similarly, Egyptian sources consistently portray Nubians as intermediary agents in facilitating the flow of goods from sub-Saharan Africa, including ivory.

However, more recent interpretations of New Kingdom records challenge the view of Egypt as a rigidly centralized bureaucratic economy, instead revealing that trade was more permeable, characterized by individual interests rather than strictly regulated state institutions.

This could explain why, even when both Egypt and the southern Levant experienced periods of political turmoil, demographic change, and collapse in the trade of other commodities (such as silver, copper), ivory was not affected.

While Egypt may have initially instigated the exchange networks, it may have been in the Nubians' best interest to maintain them. Dr. Shochat explains, "Egypt itself instigated this exchange network. I think that following the collapse of Egypt … that the Nubians perhaps took the lead... there was economic incentive to continue with this exchange network, with this supply chain network..."

Dr. Shochat hopes that future research will provide more insights into the beginning of these trade networks. Additionally, he hopes to use this approach, typically reserved for modern tracking of poaching and illegal trade, to understand the biological and geographic origin of other ancient ivories from other areas, such as Cyprus and Syria.
