The ribbon of St. George, the law explains, symbolizes

the heroism, gallantry, and resilience of the peoples of our Fatherland, the heroic achievements of its defenders in the course of combat operations and in meeting other military goals or performing duties in defending the Fatherland.

Under the new law, public officials can display the ribbon of St. George when commemorating historic dates, in patriotic education, and in similar patriotic contexts. Private individuals and organizations can also use the ribbon, granted that it’s “guaranteed to be treated as a symbol of military glory.”

The public desecration of the St. George ribbon may lead to fines of up to three million rubles (about $41,000), or a prison sentence of up to three years. Organizations may face liability of up to five million rubles ($68,000). Where desecration was committed by prior agreement among a group of people, or coordinated via the media and the Internet, fines may also reach five million rubles, and prison time for perpetrators may increase to five years.

ጌታችን በሚያርግበት ጊዜ "እነሆ አባቴ የሰጠውን ተስፋ እኔ እልክላችኋለሁ፤ እናንተ ግን ከላይ ኃይል እስክትለብሱ ድረስ በኢየሩሳሌም ከተማ ቆዩ፤" ሲል ለሐዋርያቱ በሰጣቸው የተስፋ ቃል መሠረት በዐረገ በዐሥረኛው ቀን መንፈስ ቅዱስን ልኮላቸዋል (ሉቃ. ፳፬፥፵፱)። ዅሉም በአንድ ቦታ ተሰባስበው ሳሉ በበዓለ ጰራቅሊጦስ ማለዳ እንደ ዐውሎ ነፋስ ያለ ድምፅ ድንገት ከሰማይ ወርዶ የነበሩበትን ቤት ሞላው። ከዚያም የተከፋፈሉ የእሳት ላንቃዎች በዅሉም ላይ አረፉባቸው። በዚህ ጊዜ ዅላቸውም መንፈስ ቅዱስ ባደላቸው መጠን በየአገሩ ቋንቋዎች ዅሉ ተናገሩ (ሐዋ.፪፥፩-፬)።

ጌታችን መንፈስ ቅዱስን ለሐዋርያት የላከበት ይህ ዐቢይ በዓል ዐሥራቱን፣ በኵራቱን፣ ቀዳምያቱን ካህናተ ኦሪት ስለሚቀበሉበት በብሉይ ኪዳን በዓለ ሠዊት ተብሎ ይከበር ነበር። በሐዲስ ኪዳን ደግሞ ቅዱሳን ሐዋርያት መንፈስ ቅዱስን ስለ ተቀበሉበት በበዓለ ሠዊት ምትክ በዓለ ጰራቅሊጦስ ገብቶበታል። የበዓለ ትንሣኤ መነሻው የአይሁድ የፋሲካ በዓል ማለትም በግብጽ፣ እስራኤል ከሞት የዳኑበት የመታሰቢያ በዓል እንደ ኾነው ዅሉ፣ ለበዓለ ጰራቅሊጦስም መነሻው ይኸው የአይሁድ የፋሲካ በዓል ነው። የአይሁድ ፋሲካ ከተከበረ ከሰባት ሳምንታት በኋላ በኀምሳኛው ቀን የሩቆቹ ከከተሙበት ወጥተው፣ የቅርቦቹ ከተሰባሰቡበት ተገናኝተው ለበዓሉ ፍጻሜ የሚኾነውን በዓለ ሠዊት (የእሸት በዓል) ያከብሩ ነበር።

ሐዋርያት በጽርሐ ጽዮን ተሰባስበው ሳሉ መንፈስ ቅዱስ በእሳት አምሳል ወርዶ ሰማያዊ ሀብትን፣ ዕውቀትና ጸጋን አድሏቸዋል። መንፈስ ቅዱስ ከወረደላቸው በኋላም በአእምሮ ጐልምሰዋል፤ ጥቡዓን (ቈራጦች)፣ ጽኑዓን ኾነዋል፤ ለስብከተ ወንጌል የሚፋጠኑበትንና ለሰማዕትነት የሚዘጋጁበትን ልቡና ታድለዋል።

ሂዩማን ራይትስ ዎች እንደገለጸው የአስራ ስምንት/18 ወራት ከበባ በኋላ የ RSF ጦር ኤል ፋሸርን በጥቅምት 2025 ተቆጣጥሯል። ይህም ሂዩማን ራይትስ ዎች እንደገለጸው የጥይት ድብደባ፣ የድሮን ጥቃቶች እና ሲቪሎችን ለረሃብ ያጋለጡ ገደቦችን ያካትታል። የ RSF ተዋጊዎች በሲቪሎች ላይ የጅምላ ግድያዎችን እና ሌሎች በደሎችን እንዲሁም ከከተማው በወጡ የቆሰሉ ወይም ትጥቅ ያጡ ተዋጊዎችን ላይ ፈጽመዋል።

በኋላ ላይ የተካሄደው የተባበሩት መንግስታት የእውነታ ፍለጋ ተልዕኮ በኤል ፋሸር እና አካባቢው የ RSF ድርጊት በተጠበቁ አረብ ባልሆኑ ማህበረሰቦች ላይ በተለይም በዛጋዋ እና ፉር ላይ የዘር ማጥፋት ጠንካራ አመልካቾችን እንደሚያመለክት አረጋግጧል። ተልዕኮው የአስራ ስምንት/18 ወራት ከበባ ሆን ተብሎ በረሃብ፣ የሰብአዊ እርዳታን በመከልከል፣ የህክምና እንክብካቤን በማውደም፣ በእንቅስቃሴ ላይ ገደቦችን እና በሲቪል መሠረተ ልማቶች ላይ በሚሰነዘሩ ጥቃቶች ለሕይወት አስጊ የሆኑ ሁኔታዎችን እንደፈጠረ ደምድሟል። እ.አ.አ የጥቅምት 2025 ወረራ በጅምላ ግድያዎች፣ በመውጫ ቦታዎች እና በበርሞች ላይ ግድያዎች፣ አስገድዶ መድፈር እና ሌሎች የፆታዊ ጥቃት ዓይነቶች፣ ማሰቃየት፣ እስር፣ አስገዳጅ መጥፋት እና በጎሳ ላይ ያነጣጠሩ በደሎች ምልክት ተደርጎባቸዋል። ተልዕኮው እነዚህ ድርጊቶች ስልታዊ፣ ተደጋጋሚ፣ የተቀናጁ እና ከሰብአዊነት ዝቅጠት እና ከማጥፋት ጋር የታጀቡ መሆናቸውን አረጋግጧል፣ ይህም የዘር ማጥፋት ዓላማን ያመለክታል።

The RSF seized El Fasher in October 2025 after an 18-month siege that Human Rights Watch said included shelling, drone strikes, and restrictions that left civilians facing starvation. RSF fighters carried out mass killings and other abuses against civilians, as well as against wounded or disarmed fighters fleeing the city.

A later UN fact-finding mission found that the RSF’s conduct in and around El Fasher amounted to strong indicators of genocide against protected non-Arab communities, particularly the Zaghawa and Fur. The mission concluded that the 18-month siege deliberately created life-threatening conditions through starvation, denial of humanitarian aid, destruction of medical care, restrictions on movement, and attacks on civilian infrastructure. It said the October 2025 takeover was marked by mass killings, executions at exit points and berms, rape and other forms of sexual violence, torture, detention, enforced disappearances, and ethnically targeted abuse. The mission found that these acts were systematic, repeated, coordinated, and accompanied by dehumanising and exterminatory language, pointing to genocidal intent.

One survivor, identified as Amal, told HRW that RSF fighters stopped a group that included people with disabilities and children. “They had sniper rifles, … small weapons with silencers,” she said.

The report highlighted Bossaso, in Somalia’s Puntland state, as a second transit route for Colombian contractors bound for Sudan. One Colombian contractor told the group he reached Bossaso from Colombia on commercial flights in mid-March 2025 and stayed for about 10 days at what he described as a military base, with around 40 other Colombians housed in “underground bunkers.” HRW said it geolocated two videos the contractor shared to an area near the Puntland Maritime Police Force compound, close to Bossaso airport, where satellite imagery and video stills showed earth-covered structures and air-conditioning units consistent with his account of underground facilities.

The rights group said Bossaso’s role was significant because Puntland’s leadership is closely aligned with the UAE, which HRW said has funded, trained and supervised the Puntland Maritime Police Force since 2010. From the PMPF base, the contractor told HRW, the group flew privately to Abu Dhabi, where their passports were not stamped before they were taken by bus to a UAE military facility in Ghiyathi.

“Bossaso has a military base and that’s where everyone arrives. There are some people who stay there for a month, some for 20 days, others for eight days,” one contractor told HRW.
