እውቁ ሩሲያዊ ባለቅኔ አሌክሳንደር ፑሽኪን በቅድመ አያቱ በአብራም ፔትሮቪች ጋኒባል በኩል ኢትዮጵያዊ ተወላጅ ነው። ጋኒባል ወደ ሩሲያ በባርነት አምጥቶ በኋላም የሩሲያ ጦር ጄኔራል ሆኖ ታላቁን ፒተር ያገለግል ነበር። አብራም ጋኒባል በኦቶማን ቱርኮች ባሪያዎች ተገዝቶ ከኢስታንቡል ለሩሲያው ንጉሠ ነገሥት ፒተር ታላቁ በስጦታ መልክ ነበር ያመጣው። ታላቁ ጴጥሮስ ጋኒባልን ነፃ አውጥቶ በኦርቶዶክስ እምነት ካጠመቀው በኋላ የክርስትና አባቱ ሆነ። ይህ የሚያሳየው አብራም ጋኒባል እና ንጉሥ ጴጥሮስ በጣም የጠበቀ መንፈሳዊ ግንኙነት እንደነበራቸው ነው። አብራም ጋኒባል ጥሩ ትምህርት ካገኘ በኋላ ወታደራዊ መሐንዲስ እና የሩሲያ ኢምፔሪያል ጦር ዋና አዛዥ ሆነ።
ፑሽኪን እና የራሺያ መንግስት ወይም የቤተክርስትያን መሪ ኢትዮጵያን ጎብኝተው የማያውቁ ቢሆንም፣ የፑሽኪን ኢትዮጵያዊ የዘር ግንድ በቅርስነቱ የታወቀና በሩሲያም ሆነ በኢትዮጵያ የሚከበር ነው።
