♰ A massive cross fell on the priest in front of horrified worshipers and people watching the service live online.

Despite efforts to save him, he died from his injuries.

Father Patricio Alfredo Sánchez Molinari died after a large wooden crucifix fell on him while he celebrated Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Guayaquil, Ecuador, on Saturday, October 17. The Archdiocese of Guayaquil confirmed the parish priest’s death in an official statement.

The service was being livestreamed on social media when the crucifix detached from the wall behind the altar. The incident occurred approximately 27 minutes into the broadcast, according to reporting by T13. Congregants rushed to assist as the ceremony was interrupted.

Sánchez Molinari belonged to the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, commonly known as the Redemptorists. The archdiocese expressed solidarity with his religious community, relatives and friends, and offered prayers for his repose. Its statement confirmed his passing without detailing the medical circumstances of his death.

The reason the crucifix detached has not been officially established. Available reporting does not confirm whether there were previous concerns about its condition or mounting. This dayodman report reflects the information currently available from church statements and news coverage.

Despite the tragedy, it is a miracle; The Cross fell directly on the priest for the whole world to see! t! If that isn't a huge sign, I don't know what is.
